Free football clinic featuring Terry Donahue, John Robinson, Mike White offered at Newport Harbor High
A free football clinic on helmet safety and proper tackling will be offered on May 13 at Newport Harbor High School.
Sponsored by the Lott IMPACT Trophy, also based in Newport Beach, the clinic is designed for youth football coaches, players and parents as well as high school coaches, players and parents.
Former college and pro coaches Terry Donahue, John Robinson and Mike White will participate in a question and answer session.
Donahue has the most wins of any UCLA coach in history, Robinson has the most wins of any Los Angeles Rams coach in history and White has was named national college Coach of the Year twice. All three are on the Board of Directors of the Lott Trophy.
USC Equipment Manager Todd Hewitt will conduct the helmet (and other equipment) safety session.
The proper tackling technique will be based on the shoulder tackling taught by the Seattle Seahawks.
All teams in attendance will receive a free DVD on the Seahawks’ method.
San Diego Charger linebacker Joshua Perry, a standout at Ohio State and a 2014 Lott IMPACT Trophy finalist, will also be in attendance and available for questions.
Free t-shirts and lunch will be provided to all in attendance. The event begins at 10 a.m and will be held in the Newport Harbor gym.
