Estancia girls’ tennis beats Godinez, 12-6
Leslie Hernandez and Annie Mitchell swept in singles for the Estancia High girls’ tennis team in Tuesday’s 12-6 Orange Coast League win over Godinez.
Mitchell won a tiebreaker in the first round, and Hernandez earned a 6-3 win. Estancia coach Kevin Springer said both victories were against opponents they had lost to in the teams’ previous meeting.
At No. 2 doubles, Estancia’s Crystal Castaneda and Vanessa Ruiz won 7-6 (7-3) in the second round to give the Eagles an 8-4 edge going into the last round.
Estancia is 7-2 in league and closes out league play at home against league champion Laguna Beach on Thursday.
