MISSOULA, Mont. — Senior Vanessa Aguilar came off the bench to hit seven of eight field-goal attempts, including five of six from three-point range to score a career-high 20 and lead the Anteaters in the Montana tournament on Friday.
Aguilar, who was eight for 22 from three-point range going in, helped UCI shoot 50% on 14 three-point attempts.
The Anteaters made six of nine three-point tries in the first half and shot 62.5% from the field (20 for 32) to build a 57-39 lead.
Senior Jazmyne White had 14 points and five rebounds, while senior Camille Buckley added 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four steals to help the ‘Eaters improve to 5-3.
Junior Methlyn Onomoguho had 12 points and five rebounds off the bench as UCI forced 20 turnovers while committing 14.
Madison McKennety had 11 points off the bench for UCI.
Appalachian State (1-6) had a 38-33 rebounding advantage and finished 32 for 64 from the field. But it made just three of 13 from threedom and had just 10 free throws, to the Anteaters’ 18.
