Women’s Volleyball: Perez named first-team all-conference
Orange Coast College sophomore libero Carina Perez is a repeat first-team honoree to highlight five Pirates named All-Orange Empire Conference in women’s volleyball.
Perez was joined on the first team by sophomore setter Danielle Boyette, while sophomores Sierra Brown and Kellie Kleszcz and freshman Danyelle Brown represent the Pirates on the second team.
OCC finished the regular season 14-6 and tied for fourth in the conference.
Perez, a 5-foot-4 libero, had 328 digs in the regular season.
The 6-0 Boyette amassed 597 regular-season assists to go with 24 aces and 24 total blocks.
Sierra Brown, a 5-8 outside hitter who starred at Newport Harbor High, was a first-team choice as a freshman. She had a team-best 188 kills during the regular season, while adding 146 digs and 20 aces.
Danyelle Brown, another 5-8 outside hitter, had 175 kills, 189 digs and 14 aces in the regular season.
Kleszcz, a 6-0 middle blocker, is a repeat second-team performer.
Irvine Valley’s Tom Pestolesi, who coached previously at Estancia High and Newport Harbor, was named Coach of the Year.
IVC sophomore middle blocker Annie Mitchem is the MVP.
