Men’s Soccer: OCC’s Brown, Mooney repeat honors in conference

Orange Coast College sophomores Nathan Brown and Blake Mooney are repeat first-team honorees to highlight four Pirates named All-Orange Empire Conference in men’s soccer.

Brown, the Orange Empire Co-MVP as a freshman goalkeeper in 2013, had five shutouts and posted a goals-against average of 0.95 for the Pirates (6-6-8), who were 5-4-5 in conference play.

Mooney, a midfielder, had five assists.

Freshman Carlos Valencia and sophomore defender Marco Randozzo represent OCC on the second team.

Valencia led the team with 13 points and his five goals allowed him to share the team lead in that category. He had three assists.

Randozzo had one assist for Coach Kevin Smith’s squad.

Golden West sophomore midfielder Nathan DeRosa was the MVP, while Golden West’s Alex Gimenez was the Coach of the Year.
