High School Roundup: Costa Mesa’s LaBare (golf) qualifies for CIF

Orange Coast League finals
Costa Mesa High senior Paige LaBare shot a 91 on Monday to finish third in the league and advance to CIF.
She will compete in the CIF Southern Section Southern Individual Regional Tournament on Monday at Dad Miller Golf Course in Anaheim.
LaBare shot a 43 over the first nine holes on Friday at Costa Mesa Country Club.
She then finished with 91 on the final 18 holes on Monday.

GIRLS’ TENNIS
Corona del Mar 12, University 6
The Sea Kings clinched a share of the Pacific Coast League title by beating the rival Trojans on Tuesday at CdM.
The league title is the first for CdM (14-1, 8-0 in league) since 2009. The Sea Kings can clinch it outright by beating Northwood (6-2 in league) on Thursday.
Siena Sharf and Danielle Willson each swept in singles against Uni for CdM, ranked No. 2 in CIF Southern Section Division 1. Shaya Northrup and Bella McKinney won twice in doubles.
The Sea Kings play host to No. 9 Dana Hills on Wednesday in a key nonleague match. The match, which was postponed de to rain earlier this season, will continue from a score of 3-3.

Costa Mesa 15, Godinez 3
Nancy Le swept 6-2, 6-0, 6-1 in singles for the Mustangs in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League match.
Christine Tfaye and Kris Araracap won twice in singles for Costa Mesa (10-8, 4-5 in league). Seniors Sylvia Catania and Caitlin Wase swept in doubles to improve to 19-1.
Costa Mesa plays host to rival Estancia in the league finale on Thursday.

IRVINE — Kayla Kiani, Jaclyn Gerschultz and Michelle Hung all swept in singles for the Lightning in Tuesday’s Academy League match on the road.
Maya Byrd and Isabella Deckey, Morgan Mann and Stephanie Beder, as well as Michele Chin and Miranda deBruyne, all swept in doubles for Sage Hill (7-0 in league).
The Lightning, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division 2, play St. Margaret’s on Friday at Saddleback College in the league finale. St. Margaret’s is 6-1 in league.

Sunset League individual finals
LONG BEACH — Newport Harbor High’s Grace Ferrell shot two-under-par 34 to lead after the first nine holes on Monday at Skylinks Golf Course.
The final 18 holes of competition takes place on Wednesday.
Madison Fernandez shot 41 and is tied for seventh. She is among the 16 remaining who will compete for seven spots to advance to the CIF postseason.
Teanna Herrera (47), Tehya Corona (49) and Nicole Nesbitt (52) did not make the cut for Wednesday’s final 18 holes.

Corona del Mar def. Woodbridge
Jessie Harris had 19 kills, 23 assists and 21 digs to lead the Sea Kings to a 27-25, 25-17, 23-25, 24-26, 15-13 Pacific Coast League win on Tuesday.
Sydney Alacano (16 kills, three blocks), Ashley Humphreys (38 assists, seven kills, 21 digs), Payton Carter (17 digs) and Alex Osterberg (16 digs) also contributed for CdM (16-1, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division 1AA..
The Sea Kings play at Beckman on Thursday.

McKenna Covey led Estancia with 11 kills in the Orange Coast League match that Calvary Chapel won, 21-25, 25-20, 26-24, 26-24, on Tuesday.
Olivia Toohey added 21 assists for Estancia.
