Newport Harbor 7, El Toro 6

The Sailors held on to win the nonleague game Saturday at Newport Harbor High.

Junior co-captain Cole Brosnan scored three goals for Newport Harbor (11-10), and Ben Morrison, Connor Turnbow-Lindenstadt, Nic Rimlinger and Jackson Westerman scored one each. Joe Ferraro made 12 saves for Newport Harbor, ranked No. 9 in CIF Southern Section Division 1.

El Toro, ranked No. 4 in Division 2, nearly rallied from a 7-3 halftime deficit.

Orange County Championships

Sage Hill finished 18th in the 22-team small school race Friday at Irvine Regional Park.

Calvin Shimano (64th, 17:06), Cam Knollenberg (71st, 17:11), Luke Nataupsky (91st, 17:45), Jacob Diaz (98th, 17:59) and Calvin Brown (110th, 18:20) all scored for Sage Hill.

The Lightning boys and girls will be competing in the Division 5 sweepstakes race at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday.

GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY

Orange County Championships

Freshman Emma Dickerson and junior Julia Lowe both medaled for Sage Hill in the small school girls’ race Friday at Irvine Regional Park.

Dickerson finished 13th in 18:53, while Lowe was 26th in 19:33. Maya Jaffe (47th, 20:11), Olivia Lowe (70th, 20:57) and Ashton Carroll (98th, 22:12) also scored for the Lightning.

Sage finished eighth in the 18-team race.
