Highlander Invitational
RIVERSIDE — Isaiah Thompson finished third to lead his UC Irvine squad to a fourth-place finish on Saturday at UC Riverside.
Thompson completed the 6,000-meter course in 17 minutes, 51.01 seconds. UCI’s Branden Randall was ninth in 18:11.92, while UCI’s Nolan Del Valle (24th in 18:40.33) also cracked the top 25.
UCI had 96 points to finish behind Long Beach State (49), Central Arizona (63) and Cal State Fullerton (76).
UCI competes at the Big West Conference Championships on Oct. 31.

RIVERSIDE — UC Irvine junior Aliya Shah finished 20th and the Anteaters were eighth as a team on Saturday at UC Riverside.
Shah covered 5,000-meter course in 18 minutes, 29.49 seconds.
Pearl Law (30th in 18:42.59) and Lisa Vasquez (34th in 18:46.46) also stood out for UCI in the 101-runner field.
UCI returns to action for the Big West Conference Championships on Oct. 31.

STOCKTON — The visiting Anteaters were outscored, 3-1, in the fourth quarter of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest Saturday.
Kyle Trush, Larson Pfeil and Matt Skinner had two goals apiece for No. 7-ranked UCI (11-5, 1-1 in conference).
No. 5-ranked UOP improves to 15-2, 2-0.

SANTA BARBARA – Four players scored for the visiting Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.
Jesus Fregoso, Juan Arellano, Nahum Paz and Ivan Azpeita each had goals, while Brian Torres had two assists to help No, 6-ranked Vanguard improve to 11-2, 5-1 in conference.
Westmont fell to 6-5-2, 3-3.

Cal State Fullerton 3, UC Irvine 1
FULLERTON – The host Titans scored in the 11th, 60th and 73rd minutes to handle the Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Saturday.
The hosts, coached by longtime UCI head man George Kuntz, posted a 10-7 advantage in shots to improve to 9-5-1, 4-1-1 in conference.
UCI fell to 3-9-3, 1-4-1.

Vanguard 2, Westmont 2
SANTA BARBARA – The No. 15-ranked Lions overcame a 1-0 deficit to lead the No. 8-ranked hosts in the 81st minute of the Golden State Athletic Conference clash Saturday.
But the Warrriors (9-2-2, 4-0-2) equalized in the 83rd minute and two 10-minute overtime periods failed to break the tie.
Alex Bachman and Madison Cody Ferell scored for Vanguard (9-4-1, 3-2-1), which was outshot, 22-10.
