Sydnee Busby scored two goals and Cori Haney had a pair of assists for the host Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference game Friday.

Jessica Bracken, Emma Gomez and Judy Gonzalez added goals for OCC (4-3-3, 3-1-2 in conference).

Odalis Elias had one save for the Pirates, who posted a 19-2 advantage in shots..

Santa Ana fell to 5-5, 1-4.

Vanguard def. Menlo

The host Lions breezed, 25=11, 25-14, 25-10, in the Golden State Athletic Conference home match Friday.

Jessica Chase had a team-best 11 kills and hit .471 with five digs for the No. 10-ranked Lions (14-4, 5-0 in conference).

Charlotte Heerlyn had nine kills and hit .643 with three block assists, while Sarah McKinney had seven kills in nine swings (.778), had one solo block and three block assists.

Rebecca Lowden had a team-best 15 kills and three aces, while Kelly Dalrymple chipped in 27 assists.

Menlo is 3-15, 1-6.

MISSION VIEJO — The visiting Pirates prevailed, 20-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 15-10, in Orange Empire Conference opener Friday.

OCC imrpoved to 9-1, 1-0 in conference.

Saddleback is 3-6, 0-1.

MEN’S WATER POLO

Cerritos 15,

Orange Coast 8

CERRITOS — Devin Dayan had four goals for the Pirates in the Cerritos mini-tournament on Friday.

OCC fell to 4-2, while Cerritos improved to 15-3.

UC Irvine 17,

UC San Diego 8

Kyle Trush, Lovre Milos and Matt Skinner had three goals apiece for the No. 8-ranked Anteaters in their home nonconference contest on Thursday.

Larson Pfeil, Antoine Lena and Ryan Warde contributed two goals apiece for the Anteaters (8-2), for whol Dylan Peterson had 11 saves.

UCSD is 6-7.

UCI plays host to Long Beach State on Saturday at noon.
