Setter Danielle Boyette had 20 assists and four block assists, while Carina Perez had 16 digs and Kellie Kleszca had four aces for the Pirates (5-0), ranked No. 24 in the state.

Cirtrus (3-7) hit negative .069 for the match.

Long Beach State def. UC Irvine

The host Anteaters opened Big West Conference play with a 25-21, 23-25, 26-24, 25-21 loss on Friday.

Cassidy Pickrell had 21 kills and Allison Lee added 17 for the Anteaters (10-5).

Long Beach State is 11-4.

Loyola Marymount 2, UC Irvine 1

The visiting Lions erased a 1-0 deficit with goals in the 58th and 70th minute of the nonconference game Friday.

Senior Laura McGrail opened the scoring for UCI with an assist from Alex Karlowitsch in the 44th minute.

UCI, which had 18 shots, double LMU’s total, is 4-5-2.

LMU is 6-2-1.
