ALISO VIEJO — Jesus Fregoso scored in the 11th minute and the visiting Lions were off and running in the nonconference match on Thursday night.

Angel Maldonado and Noah Cook also scored for Vanguard (4-2), for which Juan Arellano added an assist.

Luca Licciardi had four saves to preserve the shutout.

Soka is 5-3.
