Jessie Harris recorded 17 kills to lead the Sea Kings to a 24-26, 25-20, 28-30, 25-16, 15-10 nonleague home win on Thursday.
Natalia Bruening (12 kills), Kendall Kipp (13 kills), Alex Osterberg (six kills) and Sydney Alacano (five blocks) also contributed for CdM (10-1), which opens Pacific Coast League play at Woodbridge on Oct 1.

Jamie Dailey had nine kills and two aces to help lead the Lightning to a 25-15, 25-9, 25-12 Academy League win Thursday.
Amiyah De’long had five kills and eight aces and Emily Lassiter had five kills and three aces for Sage Hill (2-6, 1-1 in league).

Amy Matsuoka shot two-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match at Oak Creek Golf Course on Thursday.
Gabby Finear (43), Sarah Reynoso (45), Celine Niu (45) and Gia Finear (46) also scored for CdM (8-0, 4-0 in league).

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Grace Ferrell shot one-over-par 37 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at Meadowlark Golf Club on Thursday.
Tehya Corona (43), Nicole Nesbit (51), Madison Fernandez (51) and Jackie DeFeo (52) also scored for Newport Harbor (3-5, 1-3 in league).

Senior Jaclyn Gerschultz and sophomore Maya Byrd swept in singles without dropping a game for the Lightning in their Academy League opener on Thursday.
The Lightning, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 2 , improved to 4-1, 1-0 in league.

IRVINE — Paige Kenerson and Erica Chen swept at No. 1 doubles for the Sea Kings in Thursday’s Pacific Coast League opener.
Danielle Willson, Siena Sharf and Camellia Edalat all swept in singles for CdM (4-1, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 1.

Kris Araracap won two singles sets, 6-2, 6-2, for the Mustangs in the Orange Coast League match.
In doubles, Caitlin Wase/Gianna Valdez won twice, 7-6, 6-3, and Crystal Henriquez/Sylvia Catania also won twice, 7-6,6-3, for Costa Mesa (6-4).

BOYS’ WATER POLO
South Coast Tournament
Corona del Mar earned a pair of victories Thursday at CdM.
The Sea Kings beat Tesoro, 21-2, before getting past El Toro, 12-6.
Brendan Hack led CdM with five goals against Tesoro, and Jon Polos scored four. Ryan Cousens led CdM with three assists, while Vincent Ong and Mitchell Cooper each had three steals. Matt Moran made seven saves.
Moran made 16 saves to highlight the defensive effort against El Toro. Tamir Avital scored three goals, while Hack and Henry Wilde had two goals each.
CdM (3-1) plays Huntington Beach in a tournament quarterfinal game on Friday at 6 p.m. at CdM.

South Coast Tournament
Newport Harbor lost a halftime lead and fell to Long Beach Wilson, 10-8, in the second game of the tournament Thursday at Newport Harbor High.
The Sailors had defeated Esperanza, 17-2, in their tournament opener.
Newport Harbor (4-6) continues tournament action against Laguna Beach on Friday at 5 p.m.
