STANFORD – No. 8-ranked UC Irvine split a pair of matches on Saturday, topping No. 12-ranked Princeton, 14-6, then falling to No. 2-ranked USC, 12-4, at Stanford University.

Dylan Peterson had a career-best 17 saves against Princeton, while Kyle Trush scored six combined goals in the two games to pace the Anteaters (6-1).

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

UC Irvine def. San Diego

The host Anteaters snapped a 16-match losing streak against the Toreros with a 25-21, 16-25, 25-19, 28-26 nonconference triumph Saturday.

Victoria Dennis and Harlee Kekauoha had 13 kills apiece and Ella Rosenfeld added 12 for the Anteaters (6-6), who hit .266 as a team, 55 points better than USD (6-5).

Rosenfeld had eight block assists, Kekauoha had seven and Idara Akpakpa had six, while Dennis had three solo blocks and four block assists. UCI posted a 17.5-7 advantage in total blocks.

Shelly Anderson had 48 assists and Luna Tsujimoto had 16 digs to pace the ‘Eaters.

On Friday, UCI fell to UCLA, 25-23, 25-17, 25-21, and defeated Oregon State, 25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 25-19.

Vanguard 8, Bethesda 0

Nicole Dunn and Madison Lopp each had two goals to pace six scorers for the No. 12-ranked host Lions in the nonconference clash on Friday.

Lopp added two assists, while Madison Farell had one goal and two assists for the winners (6-1).

Alex Bachman, Haley Bruce and Natalie DeVries also scored for Vanguard, which had all 41 of the game’s shots.

Bethesda is 0-5.

Florida International 2, UC Irvine 0

MIAMI — The host Panthers scored in the 27th and 43rd minutes of the nonconference game Friday.

UC Irvine (3-5-1) managed six shots, half as many as FIU (4-4).

Tobin Corey had six saves for the Anteaters, visits Florida Atlantic on Sunday.

Vanguard 3, Bethesda 0

Juan Arellano had two goals and Juan Espinoza added a goal and an assist for the host Lions in the nonconference game Friday.

Arellano opened the scoring in the 67th minute to help No. 8-ranked Vanguard improve to 6-1. The Lions posted a 19-5 advantage in shots.

Bethesda is 2-4-1.
