High School Roundup: Sage girls’ tennis edges Woodbridge

IRVINE — Jaclyn Gerschultz, Isabella Deckey and Maya Byrd all won twice in singles for the Lightning in Thursday’s nonleague road match.

Sage Hill (3-0), ranked No. 6 in CIF Southern Section Division 2, plays host to the 12th annual Prep Classic on Friday and Saturday at The Tennis Club Newport Beach. Other teams competing include Oaks Christian, Mater Dei, Crean Lutheran and defending champion JSerra.

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Grace Ferrell shot three-over-par 39 to earn medalist honors for the Sailors in the Sunset League match at SeaCliff Country Club Thursday.

Madison Fernandez (45), Tehya Corona (49), Teanna Herrera (51) and Nicole Nesbitt (56) also scored for Newport Harbor (3-4, 1-2 in league).
