High School Roundup: CdM girls’ golf improves to 5-0

GIRLS’ GOLF

Corona del Mar 196, Edison 230

Amy Matsuoka and Alyaa Abdulghay both shot even-par 35 to share medalist honors and lead the Sea Kings to the nonleague win at Newport Beach Country Club on Wednesday.

Gabby Finear (38), Celine Niu (40), Sophie Song (48) and Sarah Reynoso (48) also competed for CdM (5-0).

Los Alamitos 227, Newport Harbor 236

Senior Grace Ferrell earned medalist honors after she shot two-over-par 38 in the Sunset League match at Santa Ana Country Club on Wednesday.

Tehya Corona (48), Madison Fernandez (48), Teanna Herrera (50) and Jackie Defeo (52) also scored for Newport Harbor (3-3, 1-1 in league).

Fountain Valley 212, Estancia 245

Violet Amrine shot 43, the low for the Eagles (0-3) in the nonleague match at Costa Mesa Country Club’s Mesa Linda par-35 course on Wednesday.

Fountain Valley is 4-4.

BOYS’ WATER POLO

Costa Mesa 12, Brea Olinda 8

BREA — Goalie Ivan Shikhelman recorded 16 saves and one steal to lead the Mustangs to the nonleague win on Tuesday.

Jorge Miranda led Costa Mesa with four goals to go with two assists. Caedmon Fisher had three goals and one assist, while Augie Cunningham (two assists) and Corbin Fisher added two goals each.
