Bockrath earns honor

Army West Point sophomore Carolyn Bockrath, a former Newport Harbor High volleyball standout, was recently named Army Athletic Assn Athlete of the Week.

She earned the honor for the second time as a Black Knight after a career-high performance at the Arkansas Invitational last weekend.

Bockrath was named to the All-Tournament Team after leading Army’s offense during all three matches. She accumulated 48 kills on 83 attempts for a .518 hitting percentage in 11 sets. Bockrath averaged 5.05 points per set to rank first on the team. She also tallied 10 digs and 12 blocks in the three matches.

Army defeated McNeese State 3-1 with a career-high performance by Bockrath. She totaled 28 kills with only one error for a hitting percentage of .659.
