LA VERNE — The Lions improved to 2-1 after three players scored in the nonconference game Tuesday.

Danyelle Allen, Jessica Taukeiaho and Megan Stoll scored, while Ashley McCutcheon, Haley Bruce and Nicole Dunn provided the assists for Vanguard.

The host Anteaters posted a 19-9 advantage in shots in the nonconference game on Sunday that included two scoreles overtime periods.

Kiana Palacios led UCI (1-2-1) with five shots, including two shots on goal.

Corey Tobin made for saves for the Anteaters, who forced Kelsey Dombrowski to make eight saves for Abilene Christian.

UCI plays Nevada on Friday to open the Gael Classic in Moraga.
