Breakdown: The Mustangs, who were 2-8 in 2014, open the Glen Fisher era with a road game against Pacific Coast League foe Northwood ... Costa Mesa has lost its last 13 season openers since 2001, including last year’s 34-6 loss to Northwood at Jim Scott Stadium ... Fisher, the former head coach at Beckman, also lost to Northwood in league play in 2013 and ’14 ... Northwood is led by second-year head coach Dean Toohey, who has been on the Timberwolves coaching staff for 15 years ... Northwood went 7-4 and 3-2 in league a year ago, finishing third and losing at Valencia of Placentia, 45-14, in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division playoffs ...
