Harbor View Swim Team edges Newport Hills for SCSC crown

The Harbor View Swim Team came out on top, edging Newport Hills to win the South Coast Swim Conference Championships Saturday at Corona del Mar High.

Harbor View Swim Team scored 1,605 points, just 25 more than second-place Newport Hills. Green Valley (1,376 points) followed in third. Pacific Sands (1,024) was in fourth, Greenbrook (893.50) in fifth and Lake Forest (799.50) in sixth.

Harbor View won the Boys’ 6U Division, Girls’ 7-8 Division, Boys’ 7-8 Division and Girls’ 9-10 Division.

Newport Hills won the Girls’ 6U Division and Boys’ 9-10 Division.

Lauren Openshaw of Newport Hills produced a highlight in the girls’ 15-18 50-yard breaststroke when she won in 31.70 seconds, that set an SCSC record.

In the Boys’ 15-18 Division, Patrick Ong of Harbor View won three events, including the 50 butterfly in 24.96, the 50 backstroke in 26.82 and the 100 individual medley in 56.94.

In the Boys’ 7-8 Division, Miles Pluma of Newport Hills won three events and contributed to a victorious relay. He won the 25 freestyle in 15.80, the 25 butterfly in 16.95 and the 50 free in 34.01. He teamed with Grant Christian, Brady Annett and Jason Barber to win the 4x25 medley relay in 1:14.47.

Other winners included

Girls’ 6U Division: Ella Olson of Newport Hills won the 25 freestyle in 19.46 and the 25 backstroke in 22.89.

Reese Pluma of Newport Hills won the 25 breaststroke in 25.62.

Brooklyn Krotts of Newport Hills won the 25 butterfly in 25.67.

The Newport Hills team of Ella Olson, Reese Pluma, Brooklyn Krotts and Avery Burk won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:36.19.

The Newport Hills team of Avery Burk, Ella Hogan, Morgan Dollander and Reese Pluma won the 4x25 free relay in 1:26.70.

Boys’ 6U Division: Chase Kuchera of Newport Hills won the 25 free in 17.97.

John Annett of Newport Hills won the 25 breaststroke in 26.90.

Tucker Murray of Harbor View won the 25 butterfly in 20.45.

The Harbor View team of Jonas Ransford, Caden Garsh, Tucker Murray and Austin Cohen won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:37.44.

The Harbor View team of Tucker Murray, Austin Cohen, Gavin McCullagh and Jonas Ransford won the 4x25 free relay in 1:21.52.

Mixed 6U Division: The Newport Hills team of Jack Phillips, Morgan Dollander, Luca Giannulli and Preston Miller-McNulty won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:50.93.

The Newport Hills team of Andre Hazlewood, Ella Felsot, Charlotte Carmichael and Jack Phillips won the 4x25 free relay in 1:51.64.

Girls’ 7-8 Division: Charli Krotts of Newport Hills won the 25 free in 15.98.

Charisse Hickman of Harbor View won the 25 butterfly in 16.66 and the 25 backstroke in 18.62.

The Harbor View team of Allison Cohen, Emme Garsh, Charisse Hickman and Peyton Benson won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:16.39.

Boys’ 7-8 Division: Brandon Wink of Harbor View won the 25 breaststroke in 20.43.

Lachie Henwood of Harbor View won the 25 backstroke in 18.64.

The Newport Hills team of Grant Christian, Brady Annett, Miles Pluma and Jason Barber won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:14.47.

The Newport Hills team of Grant Christian, Trevor Winn, Dash D’Ambrosia and Jason Barber won the 4x25 free relay in 1:08.11.

Mixed 7-8 Division: The Newport Hills team of Ryan Rincon, Lexie Karnick, Malia Cottriel and Dash D’Ambrosia won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:24.47.

The Newport Hills team of Canon Cook, Keira Raack, Malia Cottriel and Ryan Rincon won the 4x25 free relay in 1:16.44.

Girls’ 9-10 Division: Megan Schafer of Harbor View won the 50 free in 30.94.

Riley Garbutt of Harbor View won the 50 breaststroke in 38.53.

Chloe Hickman of Harbor View won the 25 butterfly in 16.26.

Alex Law of Harbor View won the 100 yard individual medley in 1:18.48.

The Harbor View team of Alex Law, Riley Garbutt, Chloe Hickman and Megan Schafer won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:06.26.

The Newport Hills team of Alexa Raack, Kendall D’Ambrosia, Mia Bernhoit and Isabella Rosensitto won the 4x50 free relay in 2:12.48.

Boys’ 9-10 Division: Dylan Salazar of Harbor View won the 50 backstroke in 37.62.

The Newport Hills team of Jacob Winn, Kaleb Annett, Jack Bryant and Luke Wallace won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:05.25.

The Newport Hills team of Kevin Sonntag, Jacob Winn, Gavin Karnick and Luke Wallace won the 4x50 free relay in 2:12.45.

Mixed 9-10 Division: The Newport Hills team of Carson Simonson, Stella Christian, Owen Kuchera and Hadley Harbilas won the 4x25 medley relay in 1:12.22.

The Newport Hills team of Trenton Quick, Hadley Harbilas, Carson Simonson and Lilly Austin won the 4x50 free relay in 2:18.11.

Girls’ 11-12 Division: Grace Myers of Harbor View won the 50 butterfly in 28.04.

The Harbor View team of Nicole Faggella, Abby Nutt, Grace Myers and Katherine Snyder won the 4x50 medley relay in 2:07.50.

Girls’ 13-14 Division: Chloe Harbilas of Newport Hills won the 100 free in 56.51.

The Newport Hills team of Chloe Harbilas, Anna Wilde, Hana Cloherty and Sophie Wallace won the 4x50 medley relay in 1:02.17.

Boys’ 13-14 Division: Tanner Pulice of Harbor View won the 50 butterfly in 25.49.
