Golf: Costa Mesa City Championship coming

The 43rd annual Will Jordan Classic, also known as the Costa Mesa City Championship, takes place Aug. 1 and 2 at the Costa Mesa Country Club.

Registration is open until July 22 by 5 p.m.

The entry fee is $195 and includes tee prize, green fees for both days and barbecue lunch on Aug. 2, as well as prizes and awards.

Tee times will be between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on both days.

Checks must accompany the entry form. Golf carts not included.

The entry fee is non-refundable after July 25.

The Costa Mesa City Championship is known as one of the premier amateur events in California. Former winners include former PGA Tour players Scott Simpson and Mark O’Meara.

Marc Reyes, an Orange Coast College golfer, shot 12-under-par 130 to win last year’s event.
