Briefs: Sendowsky new OCC trainer

Orange Coast College has hired former Riverside City College trainer Guido Sendowsky as a full-time athletic trainer, the school announced.

From 2004 to 2013, Sendowsky was co-head athletic trainer at RCC, where he was responsible for a number of the sports, including football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s track and field, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s cross country.

Prior to his time with RCC, Sendowsky was the assistant athletic trainer with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim from 2001-04.

“Hopefully, I can provide some new and fresh perspective to our department,” Sendowsky said. “I’m very energetic and I have a great passion in what I do.”

Sendowsky earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in athletic training from Cal State Fullerton in 2002. In 2007, he received his master’s degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix.

Sendowsky is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Assn., the Far West Athletic Trainers Assn., the California Athletic Trainers Assn and the California Community College Athletic Trainer’s Assn.

Sage’s Drobenko makes first team

Sage Hill School junior middle blocker Zachary Drobenko is the lone Lightning player to garner first-team All-Academy League honors in boys’ volleyball.

Drobenko led Sage Hill (5-15, 5-7 in league) to a fourth-place finish in league and the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 playoffs.

Sage Hill junior Matthew Chen was honored on the second team, while freshman Shane Larimer is an honorable mention.

St. Margaret’s Matt Nicholas is the Academy League MVP.
