Trio shines at lacrosse tournament

DENVER — Newport Harbor High incoming juniors Alex Pearce, Kyle Duffy and Chandler Pearce led the SoCal Express 2017 Select to a runner-up finish at the Denver University Team Challenge at the University of Denver on Sunday.

The SoCal Express, an Irvine-based club team, lost to the Denver Elite, 5-1, in the high school division final. Alex Pearce scored the lone goal for the SoCal Express.

Alex Pearce and Chandler Pearce, identical twins and midfielders, made the All-Star Challenge.

The Pearces and Duffy, an attacker, each finished with five goals during the tournament.
