CdM’s Kobrine invited to try out for U.S. volleyball team

Sam Kobrine, a future Corona del Mar High senior, is one of 25 players chosen by USA Volleyball for its youth national training team. The 25 are competing for 12 spots to represent the U.S. at the FIVB Under-19 World Championships in Argentina on Aug. 14-23.

Kobrine, a second-team All-Pacific Coast League outside hitter, will train with his U.S. team in July in Des Moines, Iowa.

This past season, Kobrine helped the Sea Kings win their 13th consecutive league title, finish as the CIF Southern Section Division 1 runner-up, and claim back-to-back CIF Southern California Regional Division II crowns. He finished with 214 kills, 93 digs, 32 total blocks and 10 services aces as a junior.
