OCC state runner-up for overall excellence
Orange Coast College finished second in 2013-14 in the annual standings for overall excellence among California Community College Athletic Assn. athletic programs.
The Pirates won state championships in baseball, men’s volleyball and women’s cross country to help compile 172.5 points, which trailed only Mt. San Antonio College (176.5).
OCC has finished in the top 10 in all 11 years of the award, named the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators Cup.
Points are awarded based on a team’s final positions in post-conference competition. Each school’s top five men’s and women’s team results count toward a school’s overall point total.
