Tennis: Stalder, Hoffman win Adoption Guild titles

Newport Harbor High senior Reese Stalder and Corona del Mar junior Bjorn Hoffman collected titles in their respective divisions to highlight the 54th annual Roy Emerson Adoption Guild Tennis Classic that concluded May 31 in Newport Beach.

Stalder and Jamie Gresh, the Corona del Mar tennis coach, won the Men’s Open Doubles title after beating Arthur Hernandez and Carsten Hoffman, Bjorn’s father, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.

Stalder, undefeated in high school singles during his senior season, reached the title match of the CIF Individuals tournament.

Bjorn Hoffman and Ryan Peus won the Mixed Open Doubles championship after beating Andy Chang and Sabastiani Leon, 6-3, 6-3, in the final at Newport Beach Tennis Club.

Hoffman reached the quarterfinals of the CIF Individuals.
