CdM’s Lin, NHHS quartet earn second-place finishes at CIF state swim finals
FRESNO — Corona del Mar High senior Tyler Lin and the Newport Harbor quartet of senior Dominik Folkner, senior Hayden Hemmens, junior Sawyer Farmer and senior Jason Trzeciecki grabbed second-place finishes at the CIF Swim & Diving State Championships Saturday at Clovis West High.
Lin, the two-time CIF Southern Section Division 1 champion in the 100-yard breaststroke, was edged and took second in the event in 55.25 seconds, behind San Ramon Valley junior Hank Poppe, who won in 55.22.
Lin earned third place in the 200 individual medley in 1:49.05. Junior Xiangfei Xie of Saratoga won the 200 IM in 1:45.81 and sophomore Alex Liang of Palo Alto was second in 1:48.21.
Folkner, Hemmens, Farmer and Trzeciecki finished second in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:24.27. Clovis won in 1:23.60.
The same NHHS quartet finished fourth in 400 free relay in 3:04.96. They hold the school record in the event in 3:04.88. Northgate won in 3:00.58.
Hemmens was 10th in the 200 free in 1:38.84.
Folkner was 15th in the 100 free in 46.62.
CdM senior Patrick Ong, Lin, junior Jon Polos and junior Tanner Roletter finished 11th in the 200 medley relay in 1:35.63.
