Men’s Tennis: Vanguard advances to NAIA semifinals

MOBILE, Ala. — The No. 3-seeded Lions advanced to Friday’s semifinals with a narrow quarterfinal triumph at the NAIA Championship on Thursday the Mobile Tennis Center.
Stefan Kilchhofer and Roger Muri won in singles and doubles to pace the Lions (27-1), who will face No. 2-seeded Embry-Riddle in the semifinals.
Kilchhofer topped his No. 1 singles foe, 7-6, 6-1, then teamed with Muri to win, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.
Muri rallied for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles and Daymon Johnson came from behind for a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 triumph at No. 5 singles for the Lions.
Fabio Sliva and Michael Rjazanov earned an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to help Vanguard advance.
Xavier of Louisiana is 13-8.
