High School Roundup: Sage boys’ tennis opens playoffs with win
BOYS’ TENNIS
Sage Hill 15, Servite 3
The Lightning swept in doubles in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 2 playoffs Wednesday at The Tennis Club.
Shayan Emtiaz and Ash Etdali won all three of their sets by 6-0 scores for Sage Hill. The doubles teams of Han Chin and Ian Huang, as well as Will Sanderson and Grant Janavs, won twice before being subbed out.
Adam Langevin and Omead Moini both won twice in singles for No. 4-seeded Sage Hill (13-5), which plays the Capistrano Valley/Oak Park winner in the second round on Friday.

SOFTBALL
Estancia 18, Saddleback 5
SANTA ANA — Maya Van Den Heever, Nefertiti Van Den Heever and Gianna Guyot all hit home runs for Estancia in its Orange Coast League finale Wednesday at Saddleback High.
Guyot also had a triple and scored four runs for Estancia (13-9, 5-5 in league). Felicia Rios had four hits for the Eagles.
Estancia finished tied for third in league with rival Costa Mesa, which lost to league champion Calvary Chapel, 9-2, on Wednesday.
The Eagles and Mustangs are scheduled to have a tiebreaker game for the league’s third and final berth into the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs. The game is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. at Costa Mesa High.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Corona del Mar def. Trabuco Hills
Ryan Moss had 13 kills as the Sea Kings swept, 25-18, 25-15, 25-9, in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 first-round playoff match Tuesday at CdM.
Will Hunter had seven kills for No. 3-seeded CdM (25-6), and Sam Kobrine added six. Augie Miller and Kevin Fults had five kills each, and Matt Ctvrtlik dished out 36 assists.
CdM plays at Mater Dei in a second-round match Thursday at 7 p.m.

BASEBALL
Estancia 9, Saddleback 0
The Eagles improved to 10-15, 7-8 in the Orange Coast League, finishing one game out of third place and missing the automatic berth to the CIF playoffs.
Connor Brown pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up one hit and striking out seven. He was two for three with two doubles and 2 two runs batted in.
Jake Brown (two for four, double), Aaron Boaitey (two for four, two RBIs), Tyler Ross (two for three, double), Bradley Chandler (two for three) and Brian Rodriguez (two for three) also contribued for Estancia.

Brenden Heuston went three for four with an RBI for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League finale Wednesday.
Preston Hartsell belted a two-RBI double and Jake Hastings had a double and an RBI, while Robby Hurst and Justin Hess doubled. Connor Buchanan had a two-RBI single and Chazz Martinez earned the pitching win for CdM (17-9, 9-6 in league), which finished second in league. CIF playoff pairings will be released on Monday.
