OC Marathon: Road closures and delays this weekend
Road closures and delays for the 11th annual U.S. Bank Orange County Marathon will begin at 5 a.m. throughout the host cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Santa, lasting in some areas through 3 p.m.
The marathon starts at 5:30 a.m. at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa at Fashion Island and ends at the Orange County Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa. Sunday’s event also includes a half-marathon and the Wahoo’s OC 5K, that ends with the Ultimate Party, featuring Flashback Heart Attack, an 80s cover band.
There will be several road closures in effect on Sunday throughout Costa Mesa. Some of the major street closures include:
•Newport Blvd. - northbound from Fair Dr. to Mesa Dr.
•Newport Blvd. - southbound left turn only at Mesa Dr.
•Santa Ana Ave. - southbound from Bristol St. to Mesa Dr.
•Red Hill Ave. - southbound from Main St. to Baker St.
•Bear St. - northbound from South Coast Dr. to Sunflower Ave.
•Adams Ave. - eastbound from Placentia Ave. to Mesa Verde Dr. East
•Placentia Ave. - northbound from Estancia High School to Oriole Dr.
•Fairview Rd. - northbound from Fair Dr. to Merrimac Way.
In Newport Beach, East Coast Highway will be down to one East Bound lane from Dover Dr. to Bayside Dr. from 10 p.m. Saturday through 2 p.m. on Sunday.
East bound traffic on East Coast Highway will be closed at Avocado Ave. to Orchid Ave. from 5 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.
West bound traffic on East Coast Highway will be closed from MacArthur Blvd. to Avocado Ave. from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.
Balboa Island Bridge will be closed at Jamboree Rd. and Bayside Dr. from 5 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.
