Water Polo: Sinclair also takes helms at NBWPC
Newport Harbor High boys’ water polo Coach Ross Sinclair, who was hired at his alma mater on Monday, confirmed Thursday that he will also be the director and head coach for the Sailors’ age-group program, Newport Beach Water Polo Club.
Newport Beach Water Polo Club, which was founded in 2011. The club currently has boys’ teams from 12-and-under to 18-and-under, as well as a 10U co-ed team.
Dean Crow had been serving as NBWPC director since last summer, when former director and former Sailors high school boys’ water polo head coach Robert Lynn resigned after three years.
Newport Beach Water Polo Club also had girls’ teams until last year, when they were moved back to the Newport Water Polo Foundation umbrella by Brian Melstrom. Melstrom, a longtime water polo assistant and the Newport Harbor girls’ swim coach, is the new Sailors girls’ water polo coach following the retirement of Bill Barnett.
Sinclair was the Corona del Mar High girls’ water polo coach before accepting the job as boys’ coach at Newport Harbor. He also has resigned as program director for the CdM Aquatics girls’ program.
