BASEBALL

UC Irvine 5, Cal State Fullerton 4 (10 innings)

FULLERTON — Freshman Cameron Bishop singled in the winning run in the 10th inning and worked four scoreless relief innings to earn the pitching victory in the Big West Conference game Saturday.

The win halted a nine-game losing streak against the Titans and helped the Anteaters (24-15, 11-3 in conference) solidify their Big West lead.

Bishop, who allowed one hit on the mound, singled through the left side in the 10th to plate Mikey Duarte. Duarte singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kris Paulino.

After Keston Hiura was intentionally walked, a fielder’s choice left runners on the corners to allow Bishop to come through.

Duarte was three for four, while Hiura, Paulino and Cole Kreuter had two hits apiece for the winners. Hiura drove in three runs and Paulino added one RBI.

Cal State Fullerton, which scored three in the fifth to erase a 4-1 deficit, is 21-20, 7-4.
