Men’s Volleyball: UCI’s La Cavera lauded

UC Irvine senior opposite Zack La Cavera have been named National Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Assn.

Following senior Travis Woloson, that is two straight national honorees for the Anteaters.

La Cavera was also named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after leading the No. 4-ranked Anteaters to wins over No. 13 Cal State Northridge (April 1) and No. 10 Long Beach State (Friday).

La Cavera averaged 5.29 kills, 1.14 digs, 0.57 blocks and 5.86 points per set. He had a career-high 23 kills and hit .465 in the win against 49ers, including eight kills in the fourth set.

He had a match-high 14 kills and hit .393 agaisnt CSUN.
