High School Roundup: Bell wins two in Mesa victory

Costa Mesa 81, Calvary Chapel 44
Senior Quinton Bell won two events to help the Mustangs win Tuesday’s Orange Coast League meet at Jim Scott Stadium.
Bell won the 100-meter race in 10.3 seconds, and the 200 in 21.7 seconds.
Marco Zalpa, who captured the shot put (39 feet, 11 inches) and the discus (102-10), was another double winner for Costa Mesa.

Costa Mesa 90, Calvary Chapel 18
Sophomore Paige LaBare won two sprint races for the Mustangs in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League meet at Jim Scott Stadium.
LaBare won the 100-meter race in 12.93 seconds, as well as the 200 in 27.82.
Daysi Vazquez won the 1,600 in 5:53, as well as the 3200 in 12:48, for the Mustangs.

Woodbridge 6, Corona del Mar 4
Tyler Duncan went three for four with a run batted in for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game at CdM Tuesday.
Konrad Lyle was two for four with two RBIs and a double and Brett Olson added an RBI single for CdM (2-11, 2-4 in league), which plays against Woodbridge Wednesday at Windrow Park at 3:30 p.m.

Corona del Mar 13, Marin Catholic 7
KENTFIELD — Junior Sherwin Gersten produced six goals for the Sea Kings, ranked No. 24 in the state by laxpower.com, in a nonleague game against No. 23 Marin Catholic on Monday.
CdM goalie Hoyt Crance made 10 saves and Jason Simaan won 19 faceoffs.
Jay Damon, Nino Chavez and Stephen Von Der Ahe each had two goals.
Hugh Crance had four groundballs.
The Sea Kings (7-1) play at No. 19 Danville San Ramon Valley (5-5) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Newport Harbor def. Marina
Clay Carr had 22 kills to lead the Sailors to a 17-25, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19, 15-12 Sunset League win Monday at Marina.
Colin Schlesinger added 12 kills, Landon Monroe amassed 41 assists, Spencer Lujan totaled four blocks and six kills, Clay Carr had two aces and Nic Sargeant finished with 15 digs for Newport Harbor (6-13, 3-2 in league).

Payton Carder scored five goals to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Monday at CdM.
Kacie Kline, Jamie Smith, Kennedy Mulvaney and Caroline Bethel added two goals each and goalie Lindsie Hoffman made six saves for CdM (5-0 in league).
