Local trio in OC All-Star Football Game
Corona del Mar High wide receiver Bo St. Geme and tailback Cole Martin, as well as Estancia offensive lineman Dorian Navarrete are the only three Newport-Mesa seniors who earned spots in the 56th edition of the Brea Lions Club Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game at Orange Coast College on July 9 at 7:15 p.m.
St. Geme, Martin and Navarrete are on the South All-Star team.
St. Geme is the Sea Kings’ all-time leader in receptions (154) and receiving yards (2,113), and No. 2 in receiving touchdowns (17). St. Geme, who earned All-CIF Southern Section Southwest Division, third-team All-Orange County, first-team All-Pacific Coast League and Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team honors, finished his final season with 56 catches for 837 yards and six touchdowns.
Martin, a second-team All-Pacific Coast League member, rushed 107 times for 623 yards and two touchdowns. Martin holds CdM’s single-season records for rushing yards (1,870), rushing touchdowns (21) and total points (126), all set during his junior year.
St. Geme and Martin helped CdM (10-2, 5-0 in league) claim its third straight undefeated league title, as well as reach the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division playoffs.
Navarrete, a center, led the Eagles (8-3, 5-0 in the Orange Coast League) to their third undefeated league championship since 2010. Navarrete, a 5-foot-10, 240-pounder, was named the Orange Coast League Lineman of the Year and made the All-CIF Southern Section Southern Division and Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team.
