Women’s Basketball: Vanguard’s Holsinger, Doucette earn All-American honors
Vanguard University junior Riley Holsinger has been named first-team NAIA All-American in women’s basketball.
Vanguard junior Samantha Doucette was named to the second team.
Holsinger, the Golden State Athletic Conference Player of the Year, averaged 19.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, three assists and 2.3 steals per game before sustaining a season-ending knee injury in the regular-season finale.
A 5-foot-10 transfer from Spokane Falls Community College, she ranked fifth in the NAIA in scoring and ranked No. 11 in free-throw accuracy (82.3%).
Doucette, a 5-11 guard-forward, averaged 16.9 points and 3.4 rebounds. She started all 30 games to help the Lions finish 22-8 and reach the NAIA Tournament for the 14th straight season.
