Sailors win by shutout again

MISSION VIEJO — Connor Seabold, bound for Cal State Fullerton, pitched a complete-game, two-hitter with three strikeouts and one walk to lead Newport Harbor High’s baseball team to a 4-0 win over Mission Viejo in the Foothill Pool of the Newport Elks Tournament Saturday.

Seabold also had two hits.

Logan Mahaffy produced two hits and two runs batted in.

Jake Norton and Shaun Vetrovec contributing a double each for Newport Harbor (2-0).

The Sailors play at Northwood Monday at 3 p.m.

Sage Hill Invitational

Newport Harbor beat Woodbridge, 7-2, and Sage Hill, 6-3, to win the invitational Saturday at the Tennis Club Newport Beach.

The format was five singles pro sets and four doubles pro sets per match.

Reese Stalder, the Sailors’ No. 1 singles player, earned an 8-3 win against Woodbridge and an 8-1 victory against Sage Hill.

He teamed with David Lee in doubles and they won, 8-1, against Woodbridge.

Newport Harbor plays against Sage Hill Tuesday at the Tennis Club.

Santa Margarita Eagle Invitational

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA — Newport Harbor High sophomore Rachelle A La Torre won the discus throw and recorded a personal-best in two events Saturday.

She threw 112 feet, 2 inches in the discus.

She also finished second in the shotput with a mark of 36-81/4.

Sailors junior Hope Bender was third in the shotput (33-71/2).

BASEBALL

Doubleheader

Conner Bock and Parker Reposa hit back to back homers leading a 14-hit attack for Sage Hill in game one, a 17-3 win over Valley Christian Saturday.

But Valley Christian answered witha 17-8 win over the Lightning.

Bock had five runs batted in during the first game, while Harrison Rhee also had two hits and two RBI.

LA HABRA — Sam Younesi hit a two-run home run for the Sea Kings in the Newport Elks Tournament Foothill Pool loss Saturday.

Tyler Duncan pitched a complete game and gave up five hits, as well as two earned runs. He struck out two.

CdM (0-2) play host to Katella on Monday at 3 p.m.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

Aliso Niguel 15, Corona del Mar 14

Kacie Kline led the Sea Kings with four goals Friday.

Kendall Mulvaney added three goals, while Sabrina Smith, Jaime Smith and Payton Carter scored two goals each.

Kate Allen made nine goalie saves for CdM (1-1).
