Women’s Basketball: OCC’s Matar honored

Orange Coast College sophomore Jasmine Matar has been named first-team All-Orange Empire Conference in women’s basketball.

The 5-foot-10 guard-forward led the Pirates in scoring (17.5 per game), rebounding (8.8) and steals (2.4) and also contributed 1.8 assists per contest.

She was a second-team all-conference honoree as a freshman, when she averaged 11.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

OCC was 5-21, 2-10 in conference.

Irvine Valley’s Breanna Turner was the MVP, while IVC’s Julie Hanks was Coach of the Year.
