High School Roundup: Sage Hill baseball opens season with win

BASEBALL

Sage Hill 14, Chadwick 4

Conner Bock went two for four with two runs batted in for the Lightning in their season opener Tuesday.

Parker Reposa struck out six and allowed one hit in five shutout innings for Sage Hill (1-0).

Brett Super and Justin Camp contributed three RBIs each for the Lightning.

Doubleheader

Newport Harbor High split its doubleheader to open the seaon against Esperanza on Saturday.

Liam Ogburn pitched six strong innings to lead the Sailors (1-1) to a 5-2 win in the first game.

Newport Harbor committed four errors and lost the nightcap, 9-6, as Esperanza scored six unearned runs.

BOYS’ GOLF

Edison 204, Corona del Mar 208

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Tyler See, Brian Hong and Ethan Wienthan each shot 41 for the Sea Kings in their season opener Tuesday at SeaCliff Country Club.

Edison’s Jeremy Duff was the medalist at 37.

Grant Nutt shot 42 and Garrett Wayne 43 for CdM (0-1).

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Costa Mesa def. Oxford Academy

Junior Mason Tufuga finished with 15 kills, 10 service aces, five assists and four blocks in the Mustangs’ 25-6, 25-17, 25-19 season-opening sweep on Monday night.

Coby Pham recorded 15 assists.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

Corona del Mar 15, Edison 1

Jordan Greenwall led the Sea Kings with three goals, two assists and two groundballs in their season opener Tuesday.

Noah Howe had two goals, two assists and two groundballs for CdM, while Brian Leguay and Chad Redfearn had three groundballs each.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Peninsula 10, Corona del Mar 8

Bjorn Hoffmann swept in singles for the Sea Kings in Tuesday’s nonleague match at home.

Jonathan Rhone won twice in singles for CdM (1-1), which lost seven of nine doubles sets.

CdM plays at Palos Verdes on Wednesday.
