Football: Chase, Beall receive CalHiSports.com recognition
Corona del Mar High senior defensive end Parker Chase and Newport Coast resident Charlie Beall, a senior kicker at St. Margaret’s, earned CalHiSports.com All-State recognition in football.
Chase made the All-State Large Schools Special Mention list after leading CdM to a third straight undefeated Pacific Coast League title. The Sea Kings (10-2, 5-0 in league) reached the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Southwest Division playoffs.
Beall is on the All-State Small Schools Second-Team Offense for helping St. Margaret’s win Academy League and CIF Southern Section East Valley Division championships, and finish runner-up in the CIF State Division IV Bowl Game. The Tartans finished 15-1 overall and 4-0 in league.
Chase finished with a CdM single-season record 22 sacks to go along with 103 tackles, four batted passes and a fumble recovery.
Chase is the Sea Kings’ all-time leader in sacks (38.5) and tackles (213). He also tied the CdM single-game sack record of five twice.
Chase earned the Pacific Coast League MVP and Daily Pilot Newport-Mesa Dream Team Defensive Player of the Year awards, and he picked up All-CIF Southern Section Southwest Division and All-Orange County first-team accolades.
Beall was successful on 10 of 12 field-goal attempts and 81 of 88 extra-point kicks. He was the Academy League Kicker of the Year and was selected to the All-CIF Southern Section East Valley Division team and the All-Orange County third team.
