High School Roundup: Sage Hill girls’ soccer clinches league title

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Sage Hill 3, Crean Lutheran 0

The Lightning clinched the Academy League championship, their first title since 2008.

Maya Roston, Claire Novotny and Lexi Magliarditi scored, while Lauren Thunen had an assist for Sage Hill (13-4-2, 9-0-0 in league).

For senior night, the Lightning honored Paige Burke and Kekai Whitford, who made one save.

Estancia 4, Saddleback 1

Senior Sarah Leahy scored twice for the Eagles in Monday’s Orange Coast League game.

Breanna Perez and Emily Rodriguez also scored for Estancia (6-1-2 in league).

The Eagles play host to Godinez in their league finale Wednesday at 5 p.m., while first-place Calvary Chapel (7-1-1 in league) plays at Laguna Beach (7-2). Estancia can share the league title with a victory combined with a Calvary-Laguna tie.

Corona del Mar 0, Beckman 0

The Sea Kings settled for a tie in the Pacific Coast League match, but clinched a CIF Southern Section playoff berth Tuesday at Jim Scott Stadium.

Goalie Skylar Gullick made four saves.

CdM (10-7-3, 4-2-3 in league) will play host to Northwood on Thursday, senior day.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Corona del Mar 15, Beckman 4

The Sea Kings clinched the outright Pacific Coast League title by beating the second-place Patriots on Tuesday at CdM.

Maddie Musselman scored seven goals for CdM (19-6, 9-0 in league), while Grace Morgan, Eliza Britt and Shannon Frome each scored twice.

CdM concludes league play Thursday against Northwood.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Sage Hill 50, Crean Lutheran 49

Senior Tyler Hague hit a turnaround jumper just in front of the free-throw line with 2.9 seconds left to lead the Lightning to the Academy League win on Tuesday, senior night.

Hague finished with 10 points. Chance Keuhnel led Sage Hill (17-6, 8-3 in league) with 17 points and senior CJ McCord added 13 points.

Corona del Mar 70, Beckman 44

Kevin Fults scored 18 points to lead the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Tuesday.

Sam Kobrine added 15 points and freshman Teaveon Le scored seven points for CdM (19-6, 9-0 in league), which clinched the league title last week.

The Sea Kings will go for a perfect record in the PCL Thursday night, when they play host to Northwood on senior night.

Edison 74, Newport Harbor 57

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Joey Faris scored 16 points to lead the Sailors in the Sunset League game Tuesday.

Nate Harding added 15 points and Charlie Stassel scored 13 for Newport Harbor (10-17, 3-6 in league).

The Sailors will play for third place in league and a CIF Southern Section playoff berth at Fountain Valley on Thursday.

Crean Lutheran 49, Sage Hill 26

Kenna Knollenberg scored nine points to lead the Lightning in the Academy League game Tuesday.

Liz Alvarez added six points for Sage Hill (12-13, 5-6 in league).
