High School Roundup: CdM girls’ water polo upset by San Marcos

San Marcos 6, Corona del Mar 5
The Sea Kings, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 1, were upset by No. 6 San Marcos in an Irvine Southern California Championships quarterfinal game Friday at CdM.
Maddie Musselman and Bridgett Storm each scored twice for CdM (16-6), which went scoreless in the second half after taking a 5-2 halftime lead. Kaybree Albright also scored for the Sea Kings.
CdM will play Royal in a tournament fifth-place semifinal game Saturday at 8 a.m. at Irvine’s Woollett Aquatics Center.

Corona del Mar 47, University 22
IRVINE — Natalia Bruening had 18 points to lead the visiting Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Friday.
Krista Anderson had 10 rebounds and six points, while Brianna Westrup added eight steals and six points for the winners (17-7, 6-2 in league).
Melody Yoo had nine points, all on three-pointers, for the Sea Kings, who play host to first-place Beckman on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

Corona del Mar 60, University 47
Ryan Moss led the Sea Kings with a triple-double, 14 points, 12 rebounds and 11 blocked shots in the Pacific Coast League game Friday.
Sam Kobrine added 11 points, while Ryan Stone and Kevin Fults scored 10 points each.
