College Baseball: UCI’s Moore lauded

UC Irvine senior pitcher Sam Moore has been named second-team preseason All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assn.

Moore, who led the nation with 23 saves and posted a 1.85 earned-run average in 2014, when he earned the Gregg Olson Award presented to the national breakout player of the year, earned All-American honors from Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and the American Baseball Coaches Assn.

Moore helped UCI reach the College World Series and post a 41-25 record last season.

UCI opens the 2015 season on Feb. 13 at Fresno State.
