Wrestling: Estancia captures four individual league titles
Sophomore Benji Navarette became a league champion for the second straight year and was one of four Estancia High wrestlers to capture an individual championship at the Orange Coast League Finals Friday at Saddleback.
Navarette, a 113-pounder, earned a technical fall win with a 17-0 victory over Garden Grove’s Andrew Nguyen.
Senior Jared Salinas (120) beat Vidal Arroyo from Calvary Chapel, 11-3.
Senior Carlos Villa (170) pinned Miguel Pompa of Godinez in 1:26.
Junior Juan Lozada (182) pinned William Cabrerra of Godinez in three minutes.
Senior Jose Rodriguez (145) finished third to also qualify for CIF individuals.
Estancia finished fourth as a team. Seven competed for the Eagles.
Estancia’s quintet will next compete in the CIF Southern Section Inland Division Individual Championships Feb. 20 at Temecula Valley High.
