MARYSVILLE, Calif. — Brock Eissman had two hits, including a home run, and three runs batted in to lead the visiting Lions in the opener of a three-game Golden State Athletic Conference series on Friday.
Marshall McKinnon pitched four relief innings to earn the victory.
Bret Colling doubled and a pinch-runner scored on Taylor McKnight’s single for the game-winner in the 11th.
Vanguard entered Saturday’s doubleheader 6-1, 3-1 in conference.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO
Stanford Invitational
STANFORD — No. 6-ranked UC Irvine was blanked for three quarters by No. 1-ranked Stanford in an 11-3 loss Saturday afternoon.
UCI (1-1) split two games on the day.
Stanford is 4-0.
In the first game Saturday, UCI topped No. 7-ranked San Jose State, 9-6.
McKenna Mitchell, Mackenzie Milham and Emily Carlson had two goals apiece for UCI against the Spartans, who entered the game 8-0.
It was career win No. 200 for UCI Coach Dan Klatt.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Hawaii def. UC Irvine
The host Anteaters fell to Hawaii, 25-22, 25-19, 24-26, 26-24, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match Friday at the Bren Events Center.
UC Irvine junior middle blocker Jason Agopian had a career-high 12 kills for the No. 4-ranked Anteaters (9-3, 4-2 in conference), hitting .625 in the process.
Zack La Cavera had 15 kills and seven digs, while Tamir Hershko added 13 kills and nine digs for UCI.
No. 6-ranked Hawaii, which lost its first two matches against UCI this season, is 6-2, 3-1.

SOFTBALL
Doubleheader
The host Pirates lost both nonconference games to El Camino on Saturday, dropping the first game, 2-1, and the second, 9-2, as both teams opened their season.
Ariel Fernandez had the Pirates’ lone run batted in in each game, while Kellie Tiner was three for five and Mariah Dominguez was three for six in the two games.
Tiner allowed five hits and no earned runs in a complete-game effort in Game 1. She struck out seven.
OCC made four errors in the second game and six on the day.

Vanguard 72, The Master’s College 58
Riley Holsinger scored 27 points to lead the Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.
Maya Kennedy scored 14 points, Samantha Doucette added 12 points and Amber Alexander finished with 10 points and nine rebounds for Vanguard (15-5, 7-3 in conference).
The Masters College is 16-6, 7-3.

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Mokun Fajemisin posted her fifth double-double of the year for the Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Saturday.
It was Fajemisin’s second consecutive double-double with a game-high 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Shereen Sutherland had 13 points and five rebounds, while Methlyn Onogomuho and Madison McKenney followed with seven points each for UCI (4-18, 1-6 in conference). Guard Raelyn Cheung-Sutton tied her career-high with nine assists.
Cal Poly is 11-9 overall and a league-leading 6-2 in the Big West.
