Newport Harbor to continue search for boys’ water polo coach
Despite interviewing six potential coaches, Newport Harbor High’s three-month search for a boys’ water polo head coach has yielded no coach or finalist for the job, Principal Sean Boulton said in an email message.
Boulton said that Newport Harbor will continue the search in the spring, when teaching positions that might be linked with the job could open up. He said that Newport Harbor will also continue to contact candidates as the school moves toward the end of the third quarter.
Newport Harbor is looking to replace Robert Lynn, who resigned after three years amid controversy last August. Boulton declined to comment on the reason for Lynn’s resignation, calling it a personnel issue, and Lynn also did not comment.
The Sailors hired interim coach Marco Palazzo, who guided the Sailors to a 10-17 record last fall and the CIF Southern Section Division 1 quarterfinals. They finished tied for second in the Sunset League.
