High School Roundup: Estancia girls’ soccer shuts out Saddleback

Estancia 4, Saddleback 0

Lexina McDowell, Samantha Falasco, McKenna Covey and Katarina Freiberger all scored for the Eagles in Tuesday’s Orange Coast League game at Jim Scott Stadium.

Estancia (14-2-3, 3-0-2 in league) plays Calvary Chapel (4-0-1 in league) in a key league game Thursday at 3:15 p.m. at Santa Ana’s Centennial Park. Calvary Chapel is ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division 5, with Estancia at No. 6.

WRESTLING

Newport Harbor 37, Marina 36

The Sailors moved into a tie for second place in the Sunset League and earned a spot in the CIF Southern Section Coastal Division dual meet tournament at Marina High Feb. 7.

Newport Harbor senior Alain Ward secured the team’s win with a pin in 1:37 in the 113-pound division match.

Junior Erik Herrera (132-pound division) earned a pin in 5:13, sophomore Chris Bailey (138) won by decision, junior Harrison Reich (145) won by injury default, senior Brett Beaudette (182 ) won by pin in 3:08, sophomore Fred Dennison (195) caputred a major decision victory and sophomore Drew Dobbs (220) won by injury default for the Sailors (3-1 in league).

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Margaret’s 48, Sage Hill 38

Krishan Tarsadia had 11 points, including two three-pointers, in Tuesday’s Academy League game at Sage Hill School.

Mario Nark scored 10 points for Sage Hill (13-6, 4-3 in league).
