High School Roundup: Estancia boys’ soccer blanks Costa Mesa

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 2, Costa Mesa 0

Junior Kevin Pizarro had a goal and an assist to lead the host Eagles in the Orange Coast League clash on Friday.

Pizarro’s cross set up Ricardo Gutierrez’s goal in the 25th minute. Pizarro then had an unassisted tally in the 60th minute.

Jaime Pedraza made three saves to preserve the seventh shutout of the season for the Eagles (11-2-1, 2-0 in league).

Costa Mesa is 2-1-5, 0-2.

On Wednesday, the Eagles topped Calvary Chapel, 1-0 when Alex Solis coverted an assist by Gutierrez in the 70th minute.

Pedraza had two saves.

Four players scored for the host Lightning in the Academy League game Thursday.

Nicolai Sadephi and Chase Munger scored in the first half and Nelson Kim and Miles Wilson had second-half goals for Sage Hill (3-2, 3-0 in league)

University 1

IRVINE — Evan Schwartz and Blake Munger scored for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game Thursday.

Schwartz, whose first-half goal came on a penalty kick, earned the assist on the second-half tally that put the Sea Kings ahead, 2-0.

Koen Ebbinga had four saves for CdM (4-2-1, 2-1 in league).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Sage Hill 58,

Brethren Christian 26

Bailey Super led four Lightning players in double figures with 13 points in the Academy League home game Saturday.

Kate Knollenberg had 11 points, while Kenna Knollenberg and Julia Dupuis had 10 each for Sage (9-9, 2-2 in league).

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

CJ McCord had 13 points and Tyler Hague had 10 for the host Lightning in the Academy League game Saturday.

Sage Hill is 11-5, 2-2 in league.

Newport Harbor 59,

Huntington Beach 54

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Nate Harding and Joey Faris had 12 points apiece for the visiting Sailors in the Sunset League game Friday.

Newport Harbor, which outscored the Oilers in each of the final three periods, improved to 9-11, 2-1 in league.
