Newport Harbor 9, Edison 3

Seniors Kate Pipkin and Ellie Reid each had three goals for the Sailors in Wednesday’s Sunset League game at Newport Harbor High.

Chanel Schilling, Kate Yasko and Isabel Leveque each scored once for Newport Harbor (9-3, 2-0 in league).

Carlee Kapana had eight saves and one steal, while Katie Kearns had three steals and Rachel Whitelegge two steals.

Newport Harbor plays in the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions beginning Friday.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 1, Calvary Chapel 0

Senior Alex Solis scored the game-winning goal in the 70th minute for the Eagles in an Orange Coast League opener at Jim Scott Stadium on Wednesday.

Ricardo Gutierrez had the assist for Estancia (10-2-1, 1-0-0 in league), ranked No. 10 in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 poll.

Goalkeeper Jaime Pedraza made two saves in the shutout.

Estancia plays host to Costa Mesa in the first match of the Battle for the Bell rivalry series at Jim Scott Stadium on Friday at 5 p.m.

Calvary Chapel 51, Estancia 45

Senior Kaena McReynolds finished with 20 points and three three-pointers in Estancia’s Orange Coast League opener at home on Wednesday.

Connor Brown had 11 points for Estancia (6-10, 0-1 in league).

Estancia plays host to rival Costa Mesa in the first game of the Battle for the Bell series on Friday at 7 p.m.
