PHOENIX — Junior Riley Holsinger had 16 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and four steals to lead the visiting No. 10-ranked Lions in the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Holsinger made six of 10 field-goal tries and was four for four from the foul line, from which Vanguard made 10 of 11.

Amber Alexander had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, while Samantha Doucette had 14 points, five rebounds and three steals for the winners (10-4, 3-2 in conference).

Jamie Goff had 10 points and five rebounds for Vanguard.

ACU is 4-13, 0-4.

UC Riverside 71,

UC Irvine 58

RIVERSIDE — Irene Chavez had 19 points to lead the visiting Anteaters in the Big West Conference game Saturday.

Chavez was seven for 14 from the field, including four of eight from three-point range.

Mokun Fajemisin had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Brittany Glassow had 15 rebounds and seven points for UCI (3-14, 0-2 in conference).

UC Riverside improved to 10-6, 1-1.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

PHOENIX — The Lions led by 11 with 3:31 left in the first half of the Golden State Athletic Conference game Saturday, but couldn’t hold on.

Christian Ware-Berry had 14 points to lead the Lions (11-7, 3-2 in conference). He made five of seven field-goal attempts, including four of six from three-point range.

Chris Gorman and DeAngelo Jones had 11 points apiece for Vanguard, which shot 32.3% from the field and was 10 for 20 from the foul line.

No. 17-ranked ACU (15-3, 4-0), was 26 for 40 from the free-throw line.
