College Roundup: UCI’s Rosenfeld has 13 kills in loss

IRVINE — Ella Rosenfeld was errorless on the night, hitting .565 and posting a career-high 13 kills but the Anteater lost the Big West Conference match, 25-23, 26-24, 19-25, 21-25) at Crawford Court on Thursday.

The loss dropped the Anteaters to (10-18, 5-9 in conference) while the Highlanders (7-20) earned their first conference victory in 13 matches.

Marisa Bubica led UCI with 15 kills to go along with eight digs while Rosenfeld led the team with four block assists.

Marisa Alvarez had 30 assists while Mackenzi Campbell dealt out a career-high 14 assists.

Kristin Winkler led all players with 25 digs while Aly Squires and Molly Yoder picked up 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

LA JOLLA — Jacob Mourer and Justin Papa scored three goals each for the No. 9-ranked Anteaters in a nonconference game Thursday night.

It was the seventh straight loss for UCI (14-10).
